Each of the 16 commissioners is appointed by the Govenor and represents a profession or interest group involved in Alternative Education.

Classroom teachers: Commissioner recommended by the Arkansas Education Association

School district superintendents: Commissioner recommended by the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators Local school boards of directors: Commissioner recommended by the Arkansas School Boards Association 

 

School principals with alternative education experience: Commissioner recommended by the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators
